Big Day Review

I was going to write this yesterday, but I was waaaaayyyyy to tyed  to.
First stop (this day out was really to see a friend) was Faulkner Bush in Wakefield. This was a 8 minute visit and not a planed part of the trip. We stoped in as Kereru do live there.
 I saw:

  • Tui 1
  • New Zealand Bellbird 2
  • Grey Warbler 1
  • New Zealand Fantail 4...
  • Silvereye X
  • Eurasian Blackbird
  • Chaffinch 4
  • Goldfinch 9.
Sadly I did not get any photos.

On the road leading to Best Island I saw A Little Pied Shag, A Australasian Harrier, Two Pied Stilt, and X Goldfinch.

Then we drove to the Best Island golf course by accident where I saw a New Zealand Fantail, a Blackbird, two Pukeko, a Song Thrush and X Goldfinch.
We later came back to the shore around it and saw:

  • White-Faced Heron 2
  • AU Harrier 2
  • Pukeko 2
  • Pied Stilt 8
  •  South Black-backed Gull 8
  • Sacred Kingfisher 4
  • Skylark 1
  • Chaffinch 3
  • Goldfinch X
  • Little Pied Shag 1

Before we returned to the golf club shore we drove a very very little way further along which was much better birding. My Mums favirate bird we saw was the Royal Spoonbills and I was quite pleased with them too.
